OBAMA REFUSES TO REVERSE MILITARIZATION OF POLICE IN AMERICA
So much for Obama’s compassion for his beleaguered brethren across the country, like those in Ferguson, MO, who are reeling from increased militarization of police. Our “chief executive” has firmly decided to stay firmly pat and do nothing to reverse the militarization of police power. Which leaves us firmly on a path Nazi Germany was on in the early 1930s.

Here’s an excerpt from a story in today’s London Guardian:
“Barack Obama has resisted calls to cancel or significantly curtail federal programs that transfer billions of dollars of military equipment to local police forces on Monday, choosing instead to focus on improving the training of officers given access to high-powered weapons and armoured vehicles previously used in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The president’s decision to reform rather than terminate the controversial programs, which critics said had led to the militarisation of local law enforcement, was included among a number of proposed measures the White House released in the wake of protests across the country over the police shooting of an unarmed black man in Ferguson.”

Nickelback – Edge Of A Revolution (Lyric Video)
I am not an advocate of a violent revolution. Violence begets violence. But 2.8 million viewers of this music VIDEO released only a few months ago seem to think it is time for a revolutionary CHANGE…

“Edge Of A Revolution” (lyrics)
Head high, protest line
“Freedom” scribbled on your sign
Headline, New York Times
Standing on the edge of a revolution
Hey, hey, just obey.
Your secret’s safe with the NSA
In God we trust or the CIA?
Standing on the edge of a revolution
Yeah, we’re standing on the edge of a revolution
Revolution, revolution, revolution
No, we won’t give up, we won’t go away
‘Cause we’re not about to live in this mass delusion
No, we don’t wanna hear another word you say
‘Cause we know they’re all depending on mass confusion
No, we can’t turn back, we can’t turn away
‘Cause it’s time we all relied on the last solution
No, we won’t lay down and accept this fate
‘Cause we’re standing on the edge of a revolution
Wall Street, common thief
When they get caught they all go free
A brand new yacht and a finders fee
Standing on the edge of a revolution
Same shit, different day
Can’t keep fed if I can’t get paid
We’ll all be dead if the shit don’t change
Standing on the edge of a revolution
Yeah, we’re standing on the edge of a revolution
Revolution, revolution, revolution
No, we won’t give up, we won’t go away
‘Cause we’re not about to live in this mass delusion
No, we don’t wanna hear another word you say
‘Cause we know they’re all depending on mass confusion
No, we can’t turn back, we can’t turn away
‘Cause it’s time we all relied on the last solution
No, we won’t lay down and accept this fate
‘Cause we’re standing on the edge of a revolution
We’ll all be dead if this shit don’t change
Hey hey hey hey
What do we want? We want the change
And how’re we gonna get there? Revolution
What do we want? We want the change
Standing on the edge of a revolution
What do we want? We want the change
And how’re we gonna get there? Revolution
What do we want? We want the change
Standing on the edge of a revolution
No, we won’t give up, we won’t go away
‘Cause we’re not about to live in this mass delusion
No, we don’t wanna hear another word you say
‘Cause we know they’re all depending on mass confusion
No, we can’t turn back, we can’t turn away
‘Cause it’s time we all relied on the last solution
No, we won’t lay down and accept this fate
‘Cause we’re standing on the edge of a revolution
What do we want? We want the change
And how’re we gonna get there? Revolution
What do we want? We want the change
Standing on the edge of a revolution
What do we want? We want the change
And how’re we gonna get there? Revolution
What do we want? We want the change
Standing on the edge of a revolution

So unless we, the American people, wake up from our apathy and demand that our elected representatives block and reverse the militarization not just of the police in America, but of our entire society, I am afraid we will have to wait till we get to heaven to meet a new kind of a “Howdy Pardner” Sheriff. 🙂
