WHILE PUTIN NAIVELY KEPT SWALLOWING THEIR MALARKEY FOR YEARS
CARLSON’S PUTIN INTERVIEW ATTRACTS RECORD NUMBERS OF VIEWERS
“Any time you hear a politician scream, someone has just told the truth,” goes an old saw.
One day after Tucker Carlson’s record-setting interview with the Russian president Putin was published, western media were screaming like stuck pigs. Because someone has just told the truth about them and the corrupt halls of power of the American political system which pulls the media strings (see “The American Demofarce,” Bob Djurdjevic, Washington Times, Nov 1996).
US presidents are mere figureheads. It is the unelected officials around them who serve the interests of the so-called “deep state” who wield the real power. That’s a key message from the Carlson-Putin interview.
Of course, this is something the Truth in Media (TiM) readers have had a chance to see in our articles for over 30 years now. This time, however, the Russian president also confirmed it from his own personal experiences.
Tucker Carlson: So, twice you’ve described US presidents making decisions and then being undercut by their agency heads. So, it sounds like you’re describing a system that is not run by the people who are elected, in your telling.
Vladimir Putin: That’s right, that’s right… In the end, they [US presidents’ handlers] just told us to get lost.
No wonder people flocked from all over the world to hear such news firsthand, bypassing the “lamestream” media whores, like CNN, BBC, New York Times, Washington Post and many others who only parrot the party lines, just as Soviet Pravda and Izvestia did back in the day (ironically, the word “pravda” in Russian means the “truth”).
“VLADIMIR PUTIN’S INTERVIEW GAINS OVER 20 MILLION VIEWERS IN FIRST TWO HOURS,” RT boasted in one on-screen graphic. “It was a massive propaganda victory for Putin,” claimed CNN.
RT/CNN Feb 8, 2024
This time around, it was the MSMs who were screaming along with the politicians. Because someone has just told the truth.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, “they’ve had a hysterical fit – the White House, the Department of State, all the mainstream media are shouting at the top of their lungs one thing only: don’t watch [Putin’s interview], and that an American journalist shouldn’t conduct the interview.”
She added that such behavior takes the wind out of Washington’s sails in its attempts to present itself as a beacon of morality, human rights, democracy and freedom of speech.
“Their reaction reveals the mendacity of their approaches,” she said.
What she didn’t say is that the interview also exposed the naiveté and the culpability of the Russian leader who kept trying to “appease the crocodile hoping it would eat him last,” as Winston Churchill put it in late 1930s.
In a previous post on X earlier this week, Carlson accused Western media outlets of lying to “their readers and viewers” by promoting Kiev’s stance while ignoring Russia’s.
“That’s wrong. Americans have the right to know all they can about a war they are implicated in,” he said explaining why he wanted to do this interview.
Indeed they do. And that’s what Truth in Media has been trying to do for 35 years now. But here it is now also from the mouth of one of the major protagonists.
AMERICAN TREACHERY
Vladimir Putin:“Now, about NATO’s expansion to the East,” Putin continued. “Well, we were promised, no NATO to the East, not an inch to the East, as we were told. And then what? They said, ‘Well, it’s not enshrined on paper, so we’ll expand.’ So there were five waves of expansion, the Baltic States, the whole of Eastern Europe, and so on.”
Carlson-Putin interview, Feb 6
In other words, the American presidents broke their word right from the start. And they kept on doing it for decades.
Vladimir Putin:“The third moment, a very important one, is the moment when the US missile defense (ABM) system was created. The beginning… Moreover, after I was invited by Bush Jr.’s father, Bush Sr. to visit his place on the ocean (Kennebunkport, MA, July 2007), I had a very serious conversation with President (GW) Bush and his team.”I proposed that the United States, Russia and Europe jointly create a missile defense system… I suggested working together – Russia, the United States, and Europe. They said it was very interesting.
They asked me, ”Are you serious?“ I said, “Absolutely”…. We need to think about it,“ I’m told. I said, ”Go ahead, please.“
Carlson-Putin interview, Feb 6
Vladimir Putin: “Then Secretary of Defense R.Gates, former Director of the CIA, and Secretary of State C.Rice came here, in this cabinet. Right here, at this table, they sat on this side. Me, the Foreign Minister, the Russian Defense Minister – on that side. They said to me, ”Yes, we have thought about it, we agree.“ I said, ”Thank God, great.“ – ”But with some exceptions.“
“In the end, they just told us to get lost.“
Carlson-Putin interview, Feb 6
PUTIN REBUFFED, CLINTON OVERRULED: COULD RUSSIA JOIN NATO?
Vladimir Putin: “Well, I became President in 2000. I thought: okay, the Yugoslav issue is over, but we should try to restore relations. Let’s reopen the door that Russia had tried to go through. And moreover, I’ve said it publicly, I can reiterate.“
At a meeting here in the Kremlin (in June 2000) with the outgoing President Bill Clinton, right here in the next room, I said to him, I asked him, “Bill, do you think if Russia asked to join NATO, do you think it would happen?“
Suddenly he said: ”You know, it’s interesting, I think so.“
But in the evening, when we had dinner, he said, ”You know, I’ve talked to my team, no-no, it’s not possible now.“
“You can ask him, I think he will watch our interview, he’ll confirm it. I wouldn’t have said anything like that if it hadn’t happened. Okay, well, it’s impossible now.“
So first Clinton’s, then Bush’s, then Obama’s handlers… they all kept telling Putin/Russia to get lost. In 2014, Obama’s handlers eventually kicked Russia out of the “G8” group – a hard-won brown-nosing prize for Yeltsin in 1997.
“Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me” – goes an old adage.
Yet, despite being rebuffed by the US presidents’ handlers for years, Putin kept swallowing the bait. Over and over again. And as late as Nov 2013, he was still calling such people “partners.”
Here’s what he said, for example, in an Oct 24, 2013 speech (just 4 months before the Ukraine Maidan coup):
“Global media control allows THEM to sell black for white”
“They have come to believe in their exclusivity and exceptionalism, that they can decide the destinies of the world, that only they can ever be right. They act as they please: here and there, they use force against sovereign states, building coalitions based on the principle “If you are not with us, you are against us.” To make this aggression look legitimate, they force the necessary resolutions from international organizations, and if for some reason this does not work, they simply ignore the UN Security Council and the UN overall.”
“The US has been destabilizing the world order of checks and balances for its own gains”
“Our western partners, led by the United States of America, prefer not to be guided by international law in their practical policies, but by the rule of the gun.“
With “partners” like that, who needs enemies.
To which the TiM editor commented, “it never ceases to amaze me how a head of state like Russia can be so naive?”
“Given these recent and distant lessons from history, one must wonder – is Putin naive, like Chamberlain, or false, like Gorbachov?“
“For, Putin is still referring to the Washington mobsters as “partners” even as he attempts to criticize them. And he seems to be still holding out hope that he can somehow negotiate with them.“
That’s no more realistic than negotiating with drug cartel bosses in Mexico or Colombia. Or with crocodiles like Hitler.“
Four months later, any illusions that Putin may have had that his “partners” would allow him back in the club were shattered. Right under his nose, CIA organized the Maidan coup (late Feb 2014) by Putin’s own admission. And Ukraine was lost for Russia. As was the hope of peace with NATO.
Vladimir Putin: “CIA did its job to complete the coup. I think one of the Deputy Secretaries of State said that it cost a large sum of money, almost 5 billion. But the political mistake was colossal! Why would they have to do that? All this could have been done legally, without victims, without military action, without losing Crimea. We would have never considered to even lift a finger, if it hadn’t been for the bloody developments on Maidan.“
Carlson-Putin interview, Feb 6
Oh well. He has been naive then. Not false. I don’t know which is worse for a head of state.
“Ukraine is obviously a satellite state of the U.S. It is evident,” Putin admitted during the Carlson interview.
And who lost Ukraine?
That’s the question Carlson should have but did not ask. Lest they lock him up, too, in Russia.
So thanks to his naiveté, shooting wars replaced Putin’s hobnobbing with American presidents and other western “elite” in fancy resorts around the world. Putin became a pariah in the West with some, like Hillary Clinton, comparing him to Hitler.
More importantly, hundreds of thousands of Russians and Ukrainians are now dead and millions displaced. That’s a terrible legacy of his naiveté.
Putin in Belgrade (2014)
PUTIN’S TALL TALE ABOUT RUSSIA DEFENDING THE SERBS
Vladimir Putin: “Remember the developments in Yugoslavia, before that Yeltsin was lavished with praise, as soon as the developments in Yugoslavia started, he raised his voice in support of Serbs, and we couldn’t but raise our voices for Serbs in their defense.“
“I understand that there were complex processes underway there, I do. But Russia could not help raising its voice in support of Serbs, because Serbs are also a special and close to us nation, with Orthodox culture and so on. It’s a nation that has suffered so much for generations. Well, regardless, what is important is that Yeltsin expressed his support.“
“What did the United States do? In violation of international law and the UN Charter it started bombing Belgrade.“
Carlson-Putin interview, Feb 6
“We couldn’t but raise our voices for Serbs?”
What a lot of hogwash. Yeltsin and his PM Chrenomyrdin (Al Gore’s pal at the time when Gore was Clinton’s VP) actually betrayed the Serbs and collaborated with the US/NATO in pressuring them to a ceasefire in June 1999. Which ended up in permanent loss of Kosovo, a Serbian province since time immemorial. Again, with friends like that…
Here’s what the TiM wrote about it on May 14, while NATO bombs and missiles were still raining on this tiny country:
Chernomyrdin Looks for a Partner in Betrayal
HELSINKI, May 14, 1999 – Boris Yeltsin “special envoy” for the Balkans, Viktor Chernomyrdin, read “Serb Backstabber-in-Chief” (see S99-73, Day 49, Update 1, Item 3, May 11 and S99-69, Day 45, Update 1, Item 1, May 7), was sent by Yeltsin to Helsinki today to seek some company before his trip to Belgrade next week, the Bloomberg news wire reported today.
Chernomyrdin met this week with Martti Ahtisaari, the Finnish president, as had the U.S. deputy secretary of state, Strobe Talbott. Chernomyrdin said he was planning to meet with the Finnish prime minister again on May 18 or May 19, before one or both of them fly to Belgrade to meet with the Yugoslav president, Slobodan Milosevic.
—
TiM Ed.: See the sordid plot? Absolve the “Russians” (as if the Yeltsin-Chernomyrdin Washington quislings were real Russians!) from having to “stick it to Serbia.” And use Finland, traditionally a neutral, and thus a credible, country in the Balkan affairs, for this dirty ploy. So let the Finns stick the knife to the Serbs, while the scum like Yeltsin and Chernomyrdin only offer their “moral support?”
The dirty fingerprints of the New World Order’s duplicitous schemers are unmistakably all over this “peace scenario.” Let us hope that the Serbs don’t fall for this cheap NATO trick.
And it was not just Yeltsin who betrayed the Serbs.
PUTIN ABANDONED THE SERBS IN BOSNIA, KOSOVO ALLOWING NATO TO TAKE OVER
The Washington mob made Putin feel like one of them.
For 13 years to be exact, the New World Order leaders treated Putin as a sort of a junior partner. When he ascended to the Russian presidency in 2000, he was a newby without much international experience. Putin succeeded a western stooge whose drinking problem made him an unreliable NWO “partner” (Yeltsin).
By contrast, Yeltsin sent the Russian troops to Kosovo in June 1999 and grabbed the Pristina airport before NATO had even arrived. And the Russians had been a key Bosnia peacekeeping force ever since that Balkan conflict escalated in 1992-1993.
“Power tends to corrupt,” Lord Acton noted, “and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
Access to power on the world scene might have gone to the head of the relatively minor KGB apparatchik from Saint Petersburg. Putin seemed to revel in rubbing shoulders with the global dignitaries. For a while… before they turned on him as they had done on Noriega, Saddam, Milosevic, Gaddafi and other dictators who thought they could appease a crocodile.
APPENDIX A
WHY DID US/WEST MAKE RUSSIA AN ENEMY
After the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, the people world-over were cheering. The Cold War was over before it had a chance to destroy the world. The era of peace lay before us.
But in the American corridors of power, there were a lot of grim faces. Because was is good for business. Even a Cold War. Because the “death merchants” kept building stockpiles of weapons as a deterrent. And in America, bankers and “death merchants” must be fed. Never mind that President Eisenhower warned against it 1961:
In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist.”
Jan 17, 1961
After the end of the Cold War, the “North Atlantic Treaty Alliance” had outlived its purpose. Its only adversary – the Soviet Union – fell apart. NATO was a solution looking for a problem.
Russia was ready to join the family of nations as a democratic country. And the powers that be in the US welcomed it. Ostensibly.
But…
The American administrations, from George H. Bush Sr, through Clinton, Bush Jr, and Obama have repeatedly duped Yeltsin and later Putin with false promises, only to give Putin finally a kick in the butt in 2014 after the Maidan coup. The Americans brought the two Russians to the doorstep of the western globalist club but never let them enter the inner sanctum. Before snapping the trap. Kind of like a mouse and a cheese story.
By the end of the 1990s, Russia was in tatters while China, India and other “developing” countries were gorging on American and European investments.
FINANCIAL RAPE OF RUSSIA IN 1990s
During first half of the 1990s, the western “experts” who came to Russia to “teach democracy and capitalism” helped foreign “investors” siphon off more than $400 billion of Russian state assets, according to the late Vladimir Zhirinovsky, with whom I met at his office in Moscow in March 1997. Back then, he was a leading opposition leader in the Russian Duma.
Of course, they could not have done it without the help from the corrupt Boris Yeltsin regime. Zhirinovsky cited one example (in Grusia, as I recall), where some Russians and their foreign investment partners were able to buy an entire factory for about $200,000.
“Just imagine – being able to buy a factory for a price of (a luxury) car.” Zhirinovsky thundered. “What a rip-off!” (see “Killing Russia Softly: Yeltsin’s Democide”, TiM 1997).
“Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it, too?” TiM asked rhetorically in another editorial a year later (Mar 1998).
All it takes is the New Math invented by the Harvard leftist “voodoo economists,” led by Jeffrey Sachs of the Harvard Institute of International Development (HIID). And the greasing of the palms which helps make the unpalatable digestible.
During the 1992-1994 Yegor Gaidar-orchestrated “reforms,” inspired by these heavy duty Harvard liberals – read “commies” – “these guys were able to carry on the biggest privatization in the world without creating a single private enterprise,” a free market Russian economist Larisa Piyasheva seethed in a book by Anne Williamson “How America Built the New Russian Oligarchy” (see Russia’s Privatization: The Financial Crime of the Century, TiM, Mar 1998).
“What GKI [Russian investments’ committee] did was to value all state property at 150 billion rubles at 1991 prices and to divide that figure by a population of 150 million, leaving a share worth 10,000 rubles to each individual, the voucher’s face value. Two thirds of the 150 billion whole was immediately excluded from privatization entirely [a private perch reserved for the Yeltsin aparachiks’ personal gains. TiM Ed.]. The remaining third was then divided again. Again, one half of that third was excluded. The remaining half of the third was the property privatized in 1992-94, but it too was divided.
The program had indeed put in place an expensive, time-consuming, distracting and destructive paper chase at the conclusion of which the government stood still mighty as the largest shareholder in any single allegedly privatized enterprise.”
From Anne Williamson “How America Built the New Russian Oligarchy”
Western Peacetime “Reforms” Deadlier Than Wars
The crashing decline in the physical and mental health of the Russian male in the post Cold War era was literally sending millions to an early grave, the IPS news service reported on July 23, 1996. So bad is the situation that nearly half the 16 year-olds in Russia today will die before they reach pensionable age. According to minister of health, Tatyana Dmitriyeva, only 10 percent of teenagers can be described as healthy.
“The current structure of mortality in Russia is unprecedented in human history: a third of the deceased in any given year, i.e. 672,000 people, (will) die before they reach pensionable age,” said professor Leonid Rybakovsky, head of the demographic centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences. “Of that number, 550,000 are men. ‘In the past five years, the country lost three million young men, dozens of times more than the loss of life in the Afghan and the Chechen wars.”
At the same time as literally stealing state assets and starving the Russian people, the Bill Clinton and other western leaders wined and dined Yeltsin at various international forums. They even allowed him to become a member of the “G8” group which formerly had only 7 members.
And the global feast went on. As did the famine back in Russia. Here’s an excerpt from this writer’s Annex Research 1998 business article about global investments:
Russia Is Still the Bogey
“Every time a foreign enemy burst through her western door, three times in the last two centuries alone, Mother Russia kept her sons and daughters fed and watered on the front lines. But Mother Russia is herself hungry these days. And she can’t even feed her sons and daughters in their own homes.”
“So what neither foreign enemy nor communism succeeded in doing, the New World Order’s globalism is. It’s slowly destroying one of the world’s greatest nations. As the western leaders duplicitously spoke of friendship and “Partnership for Peace,” they expanded NATO to the east, corrupted and plundered the Russian assets under the guise of “free market reforms,” encouraged Islamic insurrections in southern Russia, and are now allowing mass starvation to take place in a country which still has enough nuclear power in its arsenals to incinerate much of the planet.“
There is no question that the real winner of the Cold War was China. During the 1990s, western companies poured hundreds of billions of dollars into the Chinese economy.
Why?
Here’s their lame explanation as we cited it in an Annex Research March 1994 report:
CHINA FOLLIES
Meanwhile, back to the China, if (IBM chairman) Gerstner is bullish on it because of its supposed future growth and profit opportunities, then he, as well as many other multinationals, might end up rudely disappointed. As did the British textile industrialists a century ago, who also saw immense opportunities in China.
They, too, counted Chinese heads to justify their enthusiasm. “If every Chinese consumed as much of our product as the average Englishman does now, we would double our global sales,” they reasoned. Or, “if every Chinese added just one inch to his shirt tail, the mills of Lancashire could be kept busy for a generation.”
Well, one hundred years later, Chinese can make any length of shirt tails they choose as the mills of Lancashire rust in the dustbin of history.
Will the same be true with the computer chips? We would not be surprised (see China Follies, Annex Research, Mar 1994).
The real reason is that George H. Bush Sr and his handlers saw China as the biggest business potential for American industrialists.
Never mind that they massacred thousands of pro-democracy demonstrators at Tiananmen Square on June 4, 1989. Never mind that this was and still is a communist country, a dictatorship. They were richly rewarded with hundreds of millions of dollars of American investments throughout the 1990s. Until finally, China became the biggest threat and adversary to the US.
Above are the American traitors who facilitated the rise of China while trying to cut down the democratic Russia to its root (also see the complete article below).
And now, our children can expect a blowback from such selfish and shortsighted policies. Glad I won’t be around to see it. And sad at the same time. Because all this lunacy was entirely preventable, as you can see from this article.
APPENDIX B
TUCKER CARLSON IN MOSCOW
Unbelievably but true, 6,000 miles to the east, Tucker Carlson also sported a UKR-flag tie. And at that, in his exclusive interview with the Russian president Putin. All three men wearing the same colors within roughly 24 hours? Incredible.
Quote of the day:
The 20th was a century which America is leaving less “American” than it was when it started
“Patriotic Americans should breathe a sigh of relief when the so-called ‘American Century’ comes to an end. Because this was not an ‘American’ century. The 20th was a century which America is leaving less ‘American’ than it was when it started. It was an industrials-driven ‘Communist Century.’ And, thus a period of REGRESSION of Homo Sapiens!“
At one point during the interview, Putin joked about Tucker Carlson being rejected by the CIA after he finished college.
Addressing Carlson, Putin said, (that’s) “the organization you wanted to join back in the day, as I understand. Maybe we should thank God they didn’t let you in. Although, it is a serious organization. I understand.”
Carlson looked stunned.
According to a 2017 profile of Carlson by The New Yorker, he tried to join the CIA after leaving Trinity College in Connecticut but was turned down as “the real-life agency, unlike its fictional counterparts, prefers not to hire young men who are gabby and insubordinate.”
