ENOUGH NATIONAL CHAUVINISM AND JINGOISM!
My elder daughter was only 12 when she wrote a letter to the editor of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC complaining about NBC coverage of the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Being a competitive swimmer at the time, she said she wanted to see athletes from other countries, not just Americans. She also said she didn’t like the American chauvinism and jingoism the TV network commentators displayed on air.
Her letter was published. It did not make any difference, of course, in the NBC coverage. But it made her feel good. She did something. She voiced her conscience.

This evening, one of my good old friends from Canada sent me an editorial about the Olympics. The author extolled the virtues of the Games, including all the flag-waving and nationalism that bursts out every four years.
This is what I wrote back to my friend in response:
Thanks, W. Just FYI – I stopped watching the Olympics and other obscenely expensive globalist fiestas a long time ago when they allowed professional athletes to compete.
If this were truly about the Olympic spirit, to start with, I would ban all flags from the Olympic Games and let the spotlight shine only on athletes, not the country they are from. Alas, that has not happened since ancient Greece. (Bob Djurdjevic, Aug 8, 2016)
What I said above about the money-feeding frenzy much sums up all modern Olympic Games. Perhaps Montreal 1976 was the last “good one,” in my estimation.
ENORMOUS COSTS BORNE BY HOST COUNTRY’S TAXPAYERS
Take a look at this chart of the cost of the Olympics since Barcelona 1992 – roughly the last quarter century. The total cost of the Olympic Games born by taxpayers of the host country was a staggering $84 billion. That’s an average of $6.5 billion per each of the last 13 Games.

While the host nation’s taxpayers bear the enormous costs of the Games, guess who makes out like bandits and gets most of the revenues and all of the profits? The IOC (International Olympic Committee). And the TV networks from their corporate advertisers.
THE IOC GETS THE REVENUES AND PROFITS – OVER $1 BILLION PER YEAR
Just to give you an idea of how much money is at stake here, the IOC gets about $2.7 billion in TV rights alone from the globalist networks around the world. And the TV rights and sponsorship represent over 90% of the IOC’ total revenues (about $3.9 billion). And the Rio Games, the IOC have jacked up the TV rights costs by 52% (see https://is.gd/eKSL87).

So you see, W., the Olympics are just another NWO Greed Fest. The IOC is ENTIRELY PRIVATELY FUNDED. And thus it is in the business of raking in as much money as it can. Just like all Wall Street sharks. Except the IOC does it over the backs of athletes and taxpayers of the host country. And this secretive organization is making over $1 billion dollars per year doing it, according to this Business Insider report: Olympics, Inc: Inside The Secretive, $6 Billion World Of The International Olympic Committee – https://is.gd/bjBmM).
IOC: The fabulously rich Count Jacques Rogge counts the money and writes the checks
So do you see now, W., why I don’t watch the Olympics anymore, nor care about any other similar type of globalist propaganda? Because they only serve to enrich the few plutocrats who are already very rich, like Count Jacques Rogge, IOC president, over the backs of taxpayers and athletes.”
By the way, the Rio Olympics is particularly appaling because it takes place amid abject poverty in Rio de Janeiro slums. Take a look at these pictures. Business Insider compared them to Charles Dickens “Tale of Two Cities” – a book about the French Revolution (1789) – see The Rio Olympics are looking like a tale of two cities, Aug 8, 2016)
NO MORE BRAINWASHING! OUT WITH TRASHY NEWS CHANNELS!
PS: Oh, another friend from France reminded me this morning in her comment about this editorial, “and you didn’t even mention the drugs.”
I did not. I did not mention, either, that I don’t watch ANY network TV. And haven’t for years. We don’t even have cable TV anymore. Not only does it save money. It spares us from attempts by the New World Order media to brainwash and dumb down the masses around the world. We only watch in the evening the movies that WE CHOOSE (streaming).
