POLICE HARASSMENT IN AMERICA: “WHO WILL GUARD THE GUARDS”

This is outrageous… The police in this country are running amok. The situation is becoming worse than I had ever seen the brutal communist police act in my youth, growing up under a dictatorship regime. And if we, the people, don’t speak up against it, things will keep getting worse.

Here’s a short synopsis of what happened…

“Lisa Mahone and her boyfriend Jamal Jones were driving on Sept. 25 in Hammond, Indiana, with Mahone’s two kids in the back seat when Mahone was stopped and ticketed for driving without wearing a seat belt. The stop was caught on cellphone camera by Mahone’s 14-year-old son.

In the video, officers ask Jones, who was in the passenger seat, to show his ID. However, he did not have his license on him. Officers then appear to draw guns and order him out of the car, prompting Mahone to call 911. The video shows police shattering the passenger window and using a stun-gun on Jones. Lawyers say the two children suffered minor cuts from flying glass. The lawsuit alleges excessive force, false arrest and battery.”

Now, some questions that this incident raises…

Who Will Guard the Guards?

Since when does a PASSENGER in a car need to carry an ID anyway? And then be treated like a criminal if he did not have a driver’s license with him? What if the passenger were white? Would the WHITE Indiana police officers have treated him the same way?

And just think, how many other aggressive police assaults take place every day in America that are NOT caught on film which can be used as proof?

Neither the police nor the Justice Dept seem very anxious to publish statistics even of reported police brutality cases. The latest data this writer has found at the Justice Dept dates back to 2002 when there were 26,000 reported cases across the country. It will be safe to assume that the current statistics would be MUCH WORSE.

Things are getting so bad that the Huffington Post has now dedicated a whole new section of its website to Police Brutality.

What’s also alarming is that the vast majority of reported cases are simply ignored by the police. In New Jersey, for example, 99 Percent Of Police Brutality Complaints Go Uninvestigated In Central New Jersey, according to this Jan 2014 Huffington Post story.

The police used to proudly display the slogan “to serve and protect.” Now, a more apt slogan might be, “to harass and assault.” Like the Praetorian Guards 2,000 years ago, they seem to be here only to serve the Emperor in the White House.

“Who will guard the guards?” asked the Roman poet Juvenal in a satirical poem written in late 1st century AD (“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”).

We, the people, must – that’s who. If we don’t take care of our rights, they will go away.
