On the Jan 1 evening news, the NBC anchor Lester Holt interviewed the Louisiana chief law enforcement officer, the attorney general Liz Murrill, about the New Year’s massacre on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Here’s an excerpt from that interview:

As you see, she said that there were “multiple individuals” involved in the attack.

She also said that there was a fire at a house in NO in which “IEDs” (improvised explosive devices) were made which man who carried out the attack, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, had also placed on Bourbon Street.

A day later, the FBI deputy director Christopher Raia said that the FBI now believes the man who carried out the attack, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, was acting alone.
Why the turn about face?
Raia said the FBI wants to be transparent with the public, and that means “unfortunately there are information we have to go back on”.
He explained that after about 24 hours of investigation, they are now confident there were no accomplices.
Really?
What about the LA AG’s comment, “I can tell you with some certainty that there were multiple individuals who were involved?” What was that “certainty” based on? And how did it evaporate within 24 hours?
What amazing discovery did the FBI make between Jan 1 and Jan 2 that flipped its opinion about the complicity of other individuals in the attack? Or did somebody higher up order it to shut down that trail of the investigation?
